Why the World Is Silent over Christian Persecution? By Farrukh Harrison Saif

Europe-20th March, 2016 : Why the World is Silent Over Christian Persecution ?

According to the “Pew Research Center” Christians are the world’s most extensively persecuted faith community. Almost every year more than 100,000 Christians are martyred globally, 95% of these in Islamic countries. Yet the world remains silent!

An image uploaded on June 14, 2014 on the jihadist website Welayat Salahuddin allegedly shows militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) executing dozens of captured Iraqi security forces members at an unknown location in the Salaheddin province. A major offensive spearheaded by ISIL but also involving supporters of executed dictator Saddam Hussein has overrun all of one province and chunks of three others since it was launched on June 9. Many people in the Western world remain willfully ignorant about the situation. When the statistics are highlighted they simply refuse to believe them. Many are incapable of believing because they are incapable of thinking. They believe the prepackaged propaganda that is dished out by the established news outlets and other vested interests. To Western leaders, the truth is at best an inconvenience and at worst a serious barrier to policy – they want cheap labour and they want it quick. To the general public the truth gets in the way of their preprogrammed comfortable world view. People in the West have been told for many years that Islam is a religion of peace and Christianity is the root of all evil! If they entertain any other ideas their entire lazy belief system would come crashing down.

In the intellectually lazy and increasingly controlled Western world, the most persecuted people are Syrians and Iraqis.  That is what they are told by those who want to transform their societies and undermine their freedoms.

Christians have in fact been the most persecuted religious group in the world for the last 60 years. They have it worst in Muslim majority countries, the lands of the religion of peace where flowers bloom brighter and birds sing sweeter and where fairies flutter in the breeze. Westerners believe the hype and they want their countries to become more like Pakistan or Bangladesh – multicultural paradises. To disagree with this policy is to be racist, and in the modern West such an accusation is the equivalent of being accused of witchcraft. There is no defence to such a charge, so Westerners find it safest to do what they’re told and believe what they’re told and if they believe something else to keep their mouths firmly shut. But such beliefs do not change the reality of severe and unwavering persecution.

Every year in Pakistan alone, 700 Christian girls are raped, abducted and forced to convert to Islam. But Western world is silent, after all it is only possible to be oppressed if you are ‘Palestinian’, Syrian or Iraqi and non-Christian. But in reality it is the Christians living in the Islamic world who suffer the worst. The West makes itself believe that Christians living in Islamic societies are merely the victims of random acts of criminality.  The reality is that they are targeted because of their religion because they are not Muslim. They are not victims of common criminals they are victims of coordinated pogroms.

According to Open Doors, An international Organization documenting the Persecutions of Christians 2015 was the “worst year in modern history for Christian persecution”. But in the West the usual mantra is repeated – they can’t be being persecuted because only Muslims can be persecuted, and followers of the religion of peace would never commit such beastly acts.

Nevertheless, those who believe that there is no persecution in countries like Pakistan would never volunteer to go and live there. When it comes to looking after number one, reality kicks though only for that moment, but it kicks in. Then it’s back to make believe.

As worker and researcher in the field of human rights, who has seen the realities with his own eyes, and who has first-hand knowledge of the persecution of Christians, I can tell you what the reality is.  The severity of Christian persecution accelerated in 2014, and did so again in 2015 which became the worst year of Christian Persecution in modern age. In 2016 it will be worse and by 2020 it will be extreme. Since 11 September 2001 Christian communities in the Middle East and elsewhere in the Islamic world have been in terminal decline. The crisis is developing the proportions of an extinction level event.

In the future, the biggest target will not be the Christians of the Islamic world, they will already have ceased to exist. The biggest target will be Christians in Europe and North America. Those who currently ignore the persecution of Christians will end up seeing it with their own eyes or experiencing it in their own bodies. That is what happened in the past, and that is what will happen in the future.

As a Pakistani Christian, I grew up with the Muslims in a land full of religious extremists. I felt and observed the hatred against Christians in Islamic Republic of Pakistan. As a human rights worker on the ground defending persecuted Christians and trying to help them rediscover their lives and dignity I have learned that there is no end in sight to the hatred against the Christians and Christianity.

This level of Persecution can be controlled through one thing, and one thing alone – Christian Values and Christian compassion. It is time for the West to rediscover such virtues and awake to what is happening today, not in the Matrix of dreams imagined by Western leaders, but in the real world, a world of suffering and misery! It is time to do your bit and give persecuted Christians your help and support. It is time for your to put fantasy aside and focus on reality!
