Bahawalpur: Landlord Raped Hindu Woman Worker When She Asked For Wages
In a recent episode of horrific gender based targeting of Hindu community, a Muslim landlord raped a Hindu woman after she asked for her wages. The incident was reported in Pakistan’s city of Bahawalpur. The victim is wife of a bond laborer Gangaram. A recent video of the victim reveals horrifying details of the incident, as she can be seen in the video.
The alleged culprit, Muhammad Akram; brutally gang raped the victim along with his accomplices. In the video, she detailed that she fell into hot water when she asked for her wages, it was reported that Akram and his men arrived at her house later. Abducted her from her house and tortured his physically. Six or seven men hung her upside down, stripped her naked and battered her. She was later gang-raped.
The victim stated in a video, “He kidnapped me and took me to an unknown place. Over there they stripped me naked and kept beating me. ” She revealed that they covered her face, while they beat her. She said that she approached the landlord to collect her pay, but instead of settling the dues, she was threatened that she would be beaten if she asked for money in future.
Reports emerge that the suspect is trying to negotiate with the medics who are treating the victim, in order to cover up. A police complaint has been filed; consequently, three persons have been detained in connection with the incident. The local media, reported that the victim was beaten over fake accusations of theft. The victim was taken to a hospital for medical aid, where she was refused treatment. The hospital allegedly refused to provide her a medical certificate.
As soon as the news of this incident spread in the area, members of the Hindu community were infuriated. They flocked to the streets and staged a protest. The agitated protesters demanded that an impartial investigation must be conducted and the culprits should be shown no favoritism and justice should be served to the culprits and the concerned medics at the hospital who denied treatment to the victim.
