## What the work is

Many religious minorities in Pakistan are trapped in brick kilns through debt bondage: an
advance loan ("peshgi") that compounds faster than wages, binding whole families — including
children — to forced labor they cannot leave. Redeem the Oppressed verifies each case, pays
off the bonded debt to secure legal release, and then funds rehabilitation — safe housing,
food, medical care, schooling, job training, counseling, and legal aid — so freedom lasts
rather than collapsing back into bondage.
